Five Poems

Hitler in a Hamburger

Goering doing heroin
hiding Renoir in Champagne
ace pilot turned pig
with gorgeous partners
in his bed
a chord of rock and roll
before its time
but we've caught up
with westworld space sublime
now it's
Hitler in a Hamburger
can I help you?
who's next in line?

Homeboy

so why were you born in Chicago?
I chose Chicago for the desert.
the desert? but there is no desert in
Chicago.
I was misinformed

Poetry

poetry is no more
a vocation
than good health

Dr. Zhivago (the movie)

A Place That is Known

Elvis blew Sinatra
outta the water
the way the
Beatles blew Elvis
the Blues is
the heat in the sky
the Classics the reason
you fly when you die
Rap is the genius of the
street and Hip Hop
the current history in the
ocean of beat
Jazz takes me home
with free swinging churches
of Gospel and Soul
all cultures of music are
more than everything
they're god scoring a goal
in a game that's forever
in a place that is known

The Equation of Marilyn Monroe

you only give everything once

you only do everything twice

you only see everything three times

you only stop getting used

for everything

till they put you in the ground

so you know everything
