Much of the movie
will pay respect to the mighty Mississippi. People and Land transformed
by Our Great River. For a very different take, visit Minneapolis. Minnesotans
have pride in anything associated with Minnesota - witness Garrison
Keillor. Therefore, Minnesotans will talk up the Mississippi. In reality,
the Mississippi is simply a barrier to be crossed, no different than
an old abandoned railroad yard. Visit the University of Minnesota during
session, as the students dash from class on one side of the river to
class on the other - they don't look down, they don't
look back.
