Archive Foreword

Founded by the prominent novelist, poet, and travelogue writer Andrei Codrescu in 1981, The Exquisite Corpse was, for many decades, a singular gathering place for writers and artists who wanted to disrupt gentle tea parties and crack readers' heads wide open.

In print at first, then in a webzine format throughout the 90's and early 2000's, EC continuously set new boundaries for what is allowed, celebrated, and absolutely expected for art to do.
