Speak Up for My Opinion
by Marck L. Beggs

Life is a blur of Republicans and meat.
     -
Zippy the Pinhead

I think it's okay if the meek inherit the earth because the rest of us can just push them around and take it back.
I believe abortion should remain an option until the fetus's 18th birthday
(157th trimester).
I think that rapists should have the hairs pulled from their testicles one by one and then be castrated farmstyle.
I believe nostalgia should be punishable by death.
I think that anyone who kills anyone should be killed, and then that killer should be killed.
I think dull poets should write petty-minded, vacuous book reviews. Great poets should be allowed to saunter about naked, and you regular folks should graciously submit to any sordid, degrading request made of you.
I sincerely believe that every person reading this poem ought to be loved, liquored, and lubricated, all night long, by the poet of his or her choice.
I want you to speak up for decency because in a decent world each of you would have my child.
I want you to speak up for liberty because tonight I'm feeling like Gilgamesh and I want every bride in town lined up at my bedroom door. In fact, I'm even feeling a little Calligula, so I want the grooms and horses as well.
And I insist upon your tolerance because you must understand that I do these things for the good of all.
