Artist's Statement
Tony Green

I've been making my living as a professional artist and musician for the past 25 years. As a painter, I've always been attracted towards the "light": meaning the beautiful, the sublime, the classical ideal of harmony and proportion.Enlightenment is what I seek. Venice, Italy has been my second home for the past 18 years with my first place of residence being New Orleans. The combination of these two exotic locales have helped to develope my art and music, with Venice giving me an inexhaustable supply of subject matter and the New Orleans connection supplying the backbone for my music. As a guitarist, I play what's called Gypsy Jazz, a music created by the great Gypsy guitarist, Django Reinhardt. In this musical arena I can explore the excitement of Hungarian Gypsy music, the lyricism of the waltz musette, and the joy of straight ahead swing! I am constantly amazed at how these two disciplines, art and music, are so intertwined by the necessity to have a complete understanding of the fundamentals.
