Somewhere between abstraction and non-objective imagery, my art deals with the relationship between opposites and the ambiguity that accompanies this relationship. When I work, there's a balancing game between random acts of painting and carefully planned decisions.
I'm interested in the tension created by combinations like inviting and menacing, vast and intimate, inside and outside, the personal and the collective. I'm also concerned with pure, non-objective imagery confronted by the desire for a reference point, such as a horizon line or the presence of scale.
Some of my work during the last year has been my response to the Election of 2000 and the current Supreme Court.
