From
Anselm Hollo, this: Edward Dorn, great poet and spirit, passed away
peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at approximately 10:30 p.m.
Rocky Mountain Time Friday night, 10 November 1999. And we are all
there together / time will wave as willows do / and adios will be
truly, yes, (Dorn, If It Should Ever Come).
We are
saddened by the passing of yet another great poet.
You will
notice in this, our third Cybercorpse, memorials to two other greats,
Rudy Burkhardt,
a great friend of Exquisite Corpse, and Paul
Bowles who was a friend and a contributor. We never intended our
zine to become an anthology of farewells, but as we go on, and time
goes on, it is inevitable. None of us will get out of this century
alive, so "enivrez vous!" as the French master said.
On a
cheerful note, this is an extraordinary issue of our lively little
beast. You will notice as you navigate its rapids that there are many
new writers and that our regular contributors shine brighter than
ever. Let us know what difficulties you encounter in this medium,
which is as new to us as it is to you. We want to make sure, above
all, that we are being read.
This
past year we made friends with some amazing Mexican writers whose
work we are featuring in both Spanish and English, or only in Spanish.
(It is the World Wide Web, isn't it?) Read Mauricio
Montiel, Monica Nepote,
and Juvenal Acosta! You will
meet them in these pages again.
We have
also begun the publication of three serial novels, by Shelley
Berc, Mark Spitzer, and
Julian Semilian. We hope that
they will pique your interest and draw you ever tighter into our intimate
and sexy web.
Have
a groovy century and a grand millennium!
